Tag Day is just around the corner and we need more help!!
Thank you to those parents who have already volunteered to help. We still have plenty of opportunities for band and orchestra families to assist with the biggest fundraising day of the year.
If you are available to support Robinson Bands and Orchestras on Saturday, September 11, we need more drivers and students. If you would like to drive students on a Robinson neighborhood route so they may request donations, please contact Carmen Bishop at cjbish(at)aol.com.
Students who have not yet signed up will be given the opportunity to do so on the first day of band or orchestra class. Please encourage your child to participate. Student and parent volunteers will enjoy a breakfast feast before setting out on the neighborhood routes with plenty of food remaining for when the fundraisers return to Robinson.
Together parents and students can make Tag Day 2010 a huge success!

Congratulations to Robinson Orchestra Director, Mrs. Anne Rupert, recipient of the Virginia American String Teacher's Association 2009 Outstanding Orchestra Director Award. Mrs. Rupert also received this award in 1994.

     Since the opening of Robinson Secondary in the fall of 1971, the Symphonic Orchestra has received consistent Superior ratings in Grade VI literature at VBODA District XI Festival, and has been recognized on the local, regional, state, and national level for its outstanding performances at numerous competitions in Toronto, Atlanta, Boston, Orlando, and Virginia Beach. In 1997 and 2004, the Robinson Symphonic Orchestra performed at the VMEA State Conference. In 2003, recognized as the highest scoring Orchestra in the 2003 Festival Season. In 2005, the Orchestra was awarded the Grand Champion award for the Atlanta Fiesta-Val competition -- representing the top Orchestra in the competition. At the North American Music Festival, Virginia Beach 2007, and the Dynamic Music Festival, Orlando 2008, the Symponic Orchestra received a Superior Rating.

     The Orchestras of Robinson Secondary School in Fairfax, VA consist of over 200 performers in grades 7-12 comprising three string orchestras and one full symphonic orchestra. The string sections meet on a rotating A/B block schedule with the full 85 piece orchestra rehearsing one night a week. A large percentage of students study privately with members of the National Symphony Orchestra and other professional musicians in the Metro Washington D.C. area.
