Congratulations to the following Robinson High School Band and Orchestra students who have been selected through audition to perform in the 2011 All-Virginia Band and Orchestra event to be held on April 7-9 in Charlottesville. These students had to first be selected to either their Regional Orchestra or District Band, and then were selected from a competitive audition pool of over 1200 students this past weekend at James Madison University. Bravo!

These students will perform Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition", Dvorak's "Roman Carnival Overture" and Debussy's "Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun" under the direction of A. Scott Wood. The concert will be on Saturday, November 14th at 7:30 p.m. at West Potomac High School. Free admission.

Congratulations to Robinson Orchestra Director, Mrs. Anne Rupert, recipient of the Virginia American String Teacher's Association 2009 Outstanding Orchestra Director Award. Mrs. Rupert also received this award in 1994.

North American Music Festival -- VA Beach, April 2003

The North American Music Festival Megafest Award is presented to the school
with the highest combined grand champion score during all 7 weeks of the Festival. Robinson Symphonic Band and Symphonic Orchestra was awarded the
Megafest Award for 2003 based on scores earned at the Virginia Beach competition.

Symphonic Orchestra: 1st Place Full Orchestra Division
Rating: Superior with scores of 93.5, 95.6 and 98.6.

Most Outstanding Concert Band/Orchestra: Robinson Symphonic Orchestra
Awarded as the top instrumental group of the Festival, all categories.
